You Aren’t Going to Believe What Just Happened!

This actually happened today.

We are in the midst of moving and everything that was under is over and everything that was important is lost in a swamp of boxes and dust and poor planning.

I was sitting on the futon re-reading the torn out pages of an article about Beyonce’ from a summer issue of Vogue Amelia sent to me months and months ago.  I read the sentence, “…and that is about as big a complaint as you will ever hear out of a girl who defines the word trouper.”

“Hmmm, weird,” I thought, ” is that actually how you spell ‘trouper’?  I’ve been going around my whole life calling people ‘troopers’.”

Less than 5 sentences later, Kevin pipes up from beside me, “What’s a trow-per?”

I glance over, assuming he’s reading over my shoulder and say, “Yeah, I thought that was weird too, wait a minute!  Does it say that????”

Kevin is looking over a copy of the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Rescue newsletter from early 2009 that had landed on the floor on its way to recycling.  And there it is, in a small article about a fawn who was attacked by a fox, but is now recovering and everyone is ‘amazed at what a trouper this little guy has been.’

Mind blown.

To re-cap:

-These events happened within 2 minutes of each other

-The only thing these two publications have in common besides being in my house is that many of their photos include fur

-Both people involved did not know the correct spelling of trouper and may never have seen it in print in the entire preceding quarter decade before today

Take home messages:

1.  You never know when a miracle is going to happen.

2.  Learning can be fun!
